Measuring Guidelines

How to make Hunter Douglas window fashions measure up.

We've made it easy to customize window fashions to any window in your house. However, we recommend using a hard-edged ruler or steel tape for the most accurate measurement (cloth tape should not be used).

For accurate measurements, measure the width of the window at the top, middle and bottom. Measure the height at the left, right and centre. Order the narrowest width measurement and the shortest height measurement, always rounding down to the nearest 1/8".

Outside Mounting: Measure the desired width (A) and length(B). To minimize light leakage, the shade should overlap the window opening at least 2" on each side and at the bottom. When measuring the length, take into account the requirements for mounting the bracket attachment.

Inside Mounting: For width (A), measure across the window casing from one inside edge to the other. For length (B), measure the inside area from the top inside edge down to the top of the sill. Be sure the window opening is deep enough to install the mounting brackets.
